pychess software package provides chess graphical user interface for several chess engines, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install pychess
pychess is installed in your system.
Make ensure the pychess package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep pychess *
You will get with pychess package name, version, architecture and description in a table
